I was zipping down the road and noticed something big up in the trees. I stopped(in the middle of the road of course) and lo and behold it was an owl! I have never seen an owl in the wild, much less taken a picture of one. It is excitment overload around here folks!

That is so cool! This photo looks like it was taken during the day. Did you see an owl during the day?

love the barred owls! my faves!
You got a great capture of him too!
Now I need to listen to some "Hootie and the Blowfish" :)
Oh, I'd be excited too! A gorgeous shot!
What a great shot...we hear them but I haven't actually seen one around the neighborhood.

Whoops!!! I thought I had posted on your owl photo and it was on your lovely cow photo --- will try again---
Someone on blogger posted a picture of another owl that looks just like her/him!!
What a sight to behold!! You may want to buy a lotto ticket today :-}}
Congrats on the owl shot! Barred owls are not to common here in Florida so I would have stopped too.
Great find!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Great photo!
What a great photo! The clarity is awesome. I've never taken a shot of an owl but maybe someday :)
So glad you spotted him and got that great photo! I've never seen an owl that close up.
Great photo of the owl and so good that you spotted it up in the tree.
so cool and great shot! how funny, we just saw one the other day too. right during the afternoon sitting on a wire. i was also zipping down the road and noticed something bigger than usual up on the wire and it was an owl! bummer, i didn't have my camera with me :(
btw, i did get your email, just lazy to respond lol...i remember ab hwy but can't place it.
Lovely image! Nice catch. :)
Gorgeous shot of the sleepy Barred Owl Jori! That would make my day too!
Owl sightings are always cool! Great find and beautiful photos!
It is rare to see any owl in the daylight, but a Barred Owl prefers the deeper woods so I wouldn't expect him to be out where you could see him (or her ... can't tell without seeing the mate) So, this is your lucky day, I would say. It may be that he is looking for a mate because this is their breeding time ... Great find, great shot ...

What a gift! As you know these are nocturnal creatures. Every one I've seen during the day has been high up in a tree and blended in nearly perfectly. To get one out in the bright sunshine like this is incredible. Looks like our barred owls. Awesome shot!
Owls are special (at least for me). Nice job in spotting this Barred Owl, one of my favorites!
Excitement overload would be about five degree below where I would be if I found one of these!
Splendid bird and splendid picture!
Cheers and welcome to WBW.

Oh, lucky you! That is an excellent shot! I'd love to see an owl that I could capture. On camera, that is. :)
I agree with everyone! This is just an awesome find and a great shot. Good for you!
Great shot! I'd be excited too!
I heart owls. Great pic!!
That's just too cool!!
Great spotting and photo.
May I once again compliment you on the awesomeness that is this photo?? :o)
This is a wonderful capture!! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
Of the Owls around where I live, Barred Owls are my favorite. I have never had this gift, you had, and wow, you got such a marvelous image too. We used to do rehab and I did get to hold one, but no images in the wild of nature. My other favorite Owl is the Great Gray, oh to see one of those;')
Wow! Beautiful photo ~ one of nature's gems!
