Together Again

We received word early this morning that Ryan's father died of a heart attack last night.  We are shocked to bits.  I have lost loved ones before, but we have always known it was coming.  Ryan's mother passed away in 2006 from cancer.  While I am so very happy that they are reunited, I am also heart broken for Mikes current wife Carol.  Her first husband passed away from Lou Gehrigs disease.  I am so sad that she has to suffer more.

We just saw Ryan's Dad two weeks ago.  We are so thankful we went up.(he lives 6 hours away)  I almost went up alone to get haircuts and go to the dentist, but Ryan said he had a strong feeling he needed to see his dad.  I guess we now know why.  Ryan had a great final visit with his dad, and spent some good one on one time with him. Ryan spoke to his dad on the phone on Wed. for the last time.   I am so thankful for a loving Father in Heaven who is merciful and prompted my husband to visit his father before he passed.  He is so merciful and so very good.

This reminds us that life is short, and we must take every opportunity to show love for our family members.  They can be gone in an instant.

Trader Joes

We took a little trippy to Trader Joes.  Have I mentioned I love that place?  I wanted to share a few things I love from that lovely store.  I just tried out the cake and frosting mix.  They are delish!  easy to make and very tasty. Plus cute packaging.  Very important. :)
My kids like the chocolate cat cookies.  A little tastier animal cookie.  Love the whoopie pies! The Butter Waffles cookies are like a really thin extra tasty waffle cone.  My family loves them.
Masala Simmer Sauce!  I have used this by adding chicken and serving over rice, or adding veggies(usually potatoes carrots peas and green peppers) and serving over rice.
I was hoping for spring flowers, but they didn't have any.  I picked up a pot of shamrocks.  I have never had shamrocks before.  I think they are lovely and make us feel very festive for St. Patricks Day!

Last but not least we ADORE the Peach salsa and Queso cheese dip with the Veggie Flaxseed tortilla chips.  SOOOOOO good!  The chips are so delicious, and the peach salsa is my favorite salsa!

Oops Redone

My cousin put me in contact with Melanie when I was diagnosed with Melanoma.  Melanies daughter had been treated for melanoma a few years before I was diagnosed.  Melanie took the time to chat with me.  Her words helped me through a very difficult time in my life.  Not only is she a sweet and giving woman, she is talented as all get out!  She just opened an etsy shop!!  I ordered the above set from  her.  I LOVE it!  So adorable.

Seeds of Rebellion(Book #2 in the Beyonders series)

Seeds of Rebellion is out! I downloaded it last night. I am really enjoying so far. I think second books in series are always better than the first. First books devote a good chunk of the story to set up. The second books can just take right off.  Just in case you are unfamiliar with Brandon Mull's work he wrote the Fablehaven series.  If you haven't read it RUN and get it.  It is the best!!

There are so many awesome books coming out over the next couple of months!  I can't wait!

Two Sweet Free Apps

I'm loving the pocket whip!  This morning I asked Ryan to make breakfast.  I used the  pocket whip to prod him along. :)
I think Fooducate is fabulous!  It allows you to scan foods and then rates the nutritional value.  I was scanning up a storm in Costco and my pantry yesterday.  There were many things that I considered healthy that received low grades.

Spring is in the air, and snotty people too. ;)

Here are a few pictures I snapped while out and about yesterday.  I love spring blossoms SO much.  I wish trees looked like this year round.   While I was out on my happy blossom quest, I was stopped at a light going straight.  There wasn't a right lane but there was a bit of room between the curb and me.  A man squeezed along side me to turn right.  He unrolled his window and flipped me the bird.  It was SO rude.  I wasn't do anything wrong.  It was mean just to be mean.
For the rest of my ride as the blossoms brightened my spirit, I thought about being kind.  It's so important.  You never know how a small action can affect another person.  Sometimes I feel there is such a huge lack of respect for our fellow passengers in life.  We are all children of God.  He loves all of us.
I am glad most people follow His example and love their fellow man.  There is so much beauty in the world. It's awfully disappointing when people are ugly with each other.  I can't bear to watch the cable news channels.  It is the most contentious thing I have ever seen.  They rip people to shreds.  I don't like it one bit.  The political races and lack of respect for other people makes me sick.  Wow, how did my little post about blossoms turn to politics?  I guess it comes down to the world is a lovely place, let's make it more lovely by being kind to one and all. :) (Oh and the picture at the bottom is a bird feeder my daughter made, it has made the little birdies so very happy,I think birds that need feeders should be the only "birds" around :)

Yogurt Dipped Berries

This is another Pinterest idea.  I had a ton of fresh blueberries and raspberries in my fridge.  I grabbed the berries, a container of vanilla yogurt, toothpicks.  I didn't want to stand there and do it(I'm lazy that way), and the kids thought it was a blast.  They would put a berry on a toothpick, swirl it in the yogurt and put it in a rubber maid.  We froze them for about an hour, this was enough time to harden the yogurt but the berry was still a little soft. Fabulous, healthy, snack!
